Hello Everyone!
I’m thrilled to share the transformation of my front yard with all of you! It’s been quite a journey from a bland and uninspiring lawn to a vibrant, welcoming entrance to my home. I hope my experience can inspire others in our community and perhaps offer some useful tips and ideas.
Before the Transformation:
My front yard was mostly an unremarkable patch of grass with a few aging shrubs. It lacked character and, frankly, I rarely spent any time thinking about it.
The Vision:
I wanted a front yard that not only boosts my home’s curb appeal but is also environmentally friendly and easy to maintain. I envisioned a space with native plants, a small water feature, and areas that attract local wildlife like birds and butterflies.
The Transformation Process:
• Planning: I started with a sketch and consulted a local garden designer to choose plants that thrive in our climate.
• Clearing the Old: We removed the old sod and some non-native shrubs that were using up too much water.
• Soil Preparation: Amended the soil with compost to improve its quality and water retention.
• Planting: Planted a mix of native flowering plants, ornamental grasses, and a few small trees.
• Adding Features: Installed a small fountain and bird feeders to attract wildlife.
• Mulching: Covered the plant beds with mulch to help keep the soil moist and reduce weed growth.
The Result:
The transformation has been incredible! My new front yard is more attractive and a habitat for birds and butterflies. It’s low maintenance, which is a huge plus. I’ve received so many compliments from neighbours and friends.

Lessons Learned:
One of the biggest lessons I learned is the importance of planning. Planning the layout and choosing the right plants was key to creating a yard that met all my criteria.

I thank this community for the inspiration and advice I received along the way. I couldn’t have done it without the support and ideas from all of you!
